April's Food and Flavor of the Month

It’s another month and another change in flavors for eegee’s drinks! One of my personal faves Peach n’ Berry is back!

FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

This was brought back with much excitement from fans last year. One of the best moves eegee’s could have done last year was bring back this fan favorite. Remember when eegee’s used to do brackets for their flavors? Well Peach n’ Berry in its first year back made it to the final four, that’s how much people love the flavor. Needless to say, I get very excited anytime this flavor is back.

SANDWICH OF THE MONTH

The food item this month is a club sub. They seem to highlight it every year during one of the months but it’s never the sandwich I’d choose to eat. Apparently the sandwich is now a tropical sandwich. If you’ve seen the commercial lately the club sub is literally a sub and has a slightly offensive islander voice. I’m going to go ahead and stick with my delicious grinders with an extra side of Italian dressing, because that’s just what you do.

COOKIE OF THE MONTH

The cookie for the month is a chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips, another great cookie if you ask me. Try warming it up for a few seconds and you won’t be disappointed!

OTHER

One thing we keep forgetting to investigate is whether it’s actually true that they are selling both the eegee’s ranch and buffalo ranch in stores. Every year, except this year, eegee’s has pranked customers with a fake flavor for April Fool’s. So I already distrust eegee’s when they say this is real, because I deeply want it to be a real thing! We will investigate and bring back proof pictures instead of poorly photoshopped images of the ranch, which is the number one reason I don’t believe this to be true, it looks SO fake!

Speaking of April Fool’s, why didn’t eegee's have a fake flavor this year????? So disappointing, it was always so fun to look out to see what they would do, and somehow they always seemed to trick the masses. Instead they do household products with eegee’s scents...um ok April Fool’s, you didn’t get me. 😜

Midtown Eegee's Robbed!

We are pissed to hear the Grant/Alvernon Eegee's was robbed by a woman with a knife yesterday.

Not cool.

Tucson News Now reports:
"According to Sgt. Pete Dugan of the Tucson Police Department, a woman walked into the eegee's on East Grant Road and North Alvernon Way and demanded money."
Get the full story here.

If you know anything, please contact the Tucson Police Department or submit a tip on their website.

Bulk Ranch Purchases!!!

UPDATE: As of Jan 1, 2017, you are no longer available to purchase ranch or buffalo ranch bottles from the stores.

--
We’ve seen the question over and over again. Can you buy eegee’s ranch? We decided to investigate the question.

The answer is yes! You can purchase both the regular eegee’s ranch and the buffalo ranch from eegees. Although you can’t do it at any of the stores, all you need to do is call their catering department and boom you've got your buffalo ranch.

You can also purchase the ranch in different sizes which is totally awesome! Dreams are just coming true all over the place :). You can purchase both ranches in either a gallon or quart.

The catering number is (520) 889-4066 and they are located at 3360 E. Ajo, West of Palo Verde. eegees said that they can also have the ranch delivered to one of their stores which makes it so much more convenient!

Here are the costs for their ranches:
Ranch Dressing:
Gallon                $15.24
Quart                 $  4.22
Buffalo Ranch Dressing:
Gallon                $16.57
Quart                 $  4.56

Now go forth and buy all that ranch dressing and never have FOMO when you run out of your last ranch cup!!

Welcome back Lucky Lime, we've Missed You!!

It’s March! Which finally means Root Beer and Banana are gone. Enter a fan favorite, Lucky Lime! Thank eegee’s for not trying to do something crazy with this month’s flavor and keeping March for Lime. Just think of all the #SpikedIce drinks we could make with this flavor. It just goes so well with so many alcohols. Tequila, vodka, soco, the list goes on. We may need to do a #SpikedIce post this month on this delicious flavor.

Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the wackadoodle food for the month. Enter three microwaved Kraft mac & cheese fry options. The Mighty Mac & Cheese Trio they’re calling it. They’ve got cheesy mac & chicken, fries mac attack and mac diggity dog.

If only eegee’s was truly open all night, I see this working really well with my fellow college crowd after a night of binge drinking. A good second option to Los Betos or Jack in the Box curly fries. Your New Year’s Resolutions are definitely over with these items.

It looks like we won’t be seeing the UofA Pomline this month for March Madness. Each year we’re used to seeing the pomline Dip, Dunk and Do it Again! And last year we got to see Rico and Evelynn compete for slam dunks.

Apparently from their commercial the food choices provided by eegee’s are now decided by a focus group made up of an incredibly old dude, a rico suave guy, ‘smart girl with glasses’, and a hispanic girl. This is definitely the group of people I think of when I think of mac & cheese on fries. Maybe next month old dude will come out with a Prune Juice eegee’s! Ooo I think I just thought of their new April Fool’s flavor!

Checking out social responses, no one really seems that intrigued about the mac, all the talk is about Lucky Lime. Granted it's only March 3rd but Twitter only has 4 tweets about mac & cheese and Lucky Lime has 10 times that.

The delish snickerdoodle cookie is back this month as well. I’ll take two please!

While March isn't perfect this month, it definitely is more exciting than last month! We'll pretend February didn't happen, it was weird, maybe because it was a Leap Year? Bring on Lucky Lime all month long...fingers crossed Peach N Berry is coming up soon!

Eegee's Love is in the Air

Love is in the air, especially at Ina and Thornydale. Picture this, a man in eegee's to order lunch. He orders, gets his name called and is on his way out.

Then there you are, right there. Your smile is infectious, you are right in front of his face but what does he do? He's already on his way out, he's already going towards the door. Does he stop, does he ask for your number? Sadly, no he can't bring himself to do it.

He continues out the door. As he gets in his car he immediately regrets his decision, this woman took his breath away. How does he reconnect with this woman?

This man turns to Craigslist. He asks for the help of the public to help him find this woman. A woman who could be his true love.

Does this sound familiar? It should, things like this happen more often than not. Let's help this eegee's love couple find each other this Valentine's Day.

As in Justin Timberlake's "Not a Bad Thing" Music Video one gentleman says, "Love is not scripted, it just happens." This is so true and you could be part of this eegee's love story.

eegee's Valentine's Day Contest

Have you checked out eegee’s social media lately? They are doing a contest for Valentine's Day. Either go to their Facebook or Instagram page and tag as many friends as you can. Looks like they want you to do separate posts per tag, not sure why...probably wanting more comments I dunno. But anyways, you get the chance to win a Party Pak. The winner is announced on Valentine's Day so you don't have much more time to enter.

Good Luck to all the eegee fans!!

Head over to their Facebook Page here to enter: eegees Facebook

Here's their post from Facebook:

Root Beer & Banana Blush are February's Flavors

Eegees has just introduced the flavor of the months for February. As usual eegee’s has the root beer flavor available for rodeo week. They’re actually vocal about it this month and highlighting it with Banana Blush this year.

Banana Blush has been off the eegee’s flavor roster for quite some time, so I'm sure some will be excited to see it back. So... what happened to Peach n’ Berry??!!?!?! A flavor everyone was so happy to see back last year at this time. Arguably a much more popular flavor than Banana Blush.

eegees is doing things a little different this year and not providing us the flavors of the year on their Flavor of the Month page. So, we’re hoping that Peach n’ Berry will still be in the lineup this year.

And lbh, how unfortunate are those colors together?

With both flavors, you are able to add a scoop of ice cream into your cup. This was well received last year when they did Dreamsicles. Mmm yes those were delicious. I kind of want one right now.

It’s interesting to see two very taste specific flavors on the menu this month. People either love or hate root beer and people either love or hate banana flavors, there’s really no in between. Is root beer a sweet flavor? I don't remember it actually being sweet and I don't think I've ever heard anyone describe it as sweet. Maybe they're assuming you'll only have it with ice cream and that's the sweet part? I personally will have to stick to Strawberry this month as neither of these flavors appeal to me. I don’t doubt the banana fanatics will be rejoicing while all the peach n’ berry lovers will be patiently awaiting for February to be over.

So eegee's when is Peach n Berry coming back? Inquiring minds want to know.

The highlighted menu item this month is again the BLT, which we think is the same as last year. We’re not really getting what the OMG moment emoji is supposed to be about, especially since this is an item on the menu all year long. But OMG eat yourself some bacon! Can’t go wrong with bacon! I’d also like to see who makes this face whenever they see a BLT on any restaurant’s menu. Shove that sandwich all the way in.

Looks like the Keeper Cup is back! I’m guessing they’re planning to do a collectible type thing, the design has changed this year. This year they went with a kind of old school Tucson vibe. They’re calling it a Tucson Original, or at least I think they’re calling the Keeper Cup a Tucson original. I’m not sure what they mean by that and why the Keeper Cup is one it’s not like giant refillable cups are original to Tucson. I think they’re original to Circle K lol. Also, Tucson doesn't have fucking palm trees unless you're on campus. Dear Phoenix Advertising Agency learn your market.

If you’re into eegee’s and into eating all the flavors all the time, the Keeper Cup is a great option to get. Your refills are way cheaper when you use the cup so it pretty much pays for itself. I can’t wait to get mine and add it to my one cup collection.

The cookie of the month is a fan favorite, fudge brownie. You can’t go wrong with this one. Chocolate, chocolate and chocolate. #approved.

One thing I almost didn’t even realize is that eegee’s seems to be having a monthly salad added to the monthly menu highlights. If you weren’t just sitting on their website you probably would have never noticed but their salad of the month is a Santa Fe Chicken Salad. The image of the salad doesn’t actually lead to anywhere on their site so I’m not too sure what’s on the salad. From the picture it looks like it’s iceberg lettuce, chicken, black beans, tomatoes and corn...meh.  Don’t go to eegees to eat a salad so I’ll let someone else try it. I’m sure it’s decent.

The Tucson Taste Testers Are Back!

Our favorite guys are back reviewing the January Healthylicious Campaign from eegee's. Seriously, if you have not seen this, you need to watch it. There's no guest speaker this week, but the sarcasm is on point.

The guys are reviewing the Healthylicious Sandwiches, the Pecan Cinnamon Roll Cookie and the new flavor of the month Pineapple Watermelon. It's the splash, the splash, complete with Jazz hands. So good.

HEALTHYLICIOUS

This covers the four turkey sandwiches that eegee's has to offer.

"They tend to be on the delicious side, not on the healthy side. Anything with ham and white bread, usually isn't considered healthy."

We couldn't agree more. You can't just think you're eating healthy, you must know what goes into your food.

New campaign name Licious, there's nothing healthy about it. Eight inches of bread. Carb lovers dream.

Don't forget if you add fries and a drink you're consuming more calories. Small fries add 260 calories and a large fry is 390. Oh and if you add one cup of ranch dressing, pack on another 300 calories.

"If you've made a New Year's Resolution to lose weight we recommend you stay away from this sandwich."
"Unless you've given up already... try it quitter."

FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

The new flavor of the month for eegee's is the Watermelon Pineapple Splash. Watermelon is a huge fan favorite. We even predicted this flavor would be a combination. Though is it a bit too good to be true? First, watermelon is watered down with pineapple.

The guys report that the flavor is a bit mild. You don't really even taste either of the fruits. It's a background flavor. It's the elevator jazz music. And we're just going to leave that one here.

Do you agree with the guys' opinion on this flavor? Let us know in the comments.

COOKIE OF THE MONTH

The cookie of the month is the Pecan Cinnamon Roll Cookie. It's a giant cookie with cinnamon, sugar and real pieces of pecans.

You can see Tim fall in love with this cookie starting with the first bite. He will be stocking up on this cookie to enjoy throughout the year!

Have you had the Cookie of the Month? What do you think of it? Let us know in the comments.

RECAP

The food is overall good. Turkey is a go to sandwich when you aren't feeling adventurous.

The new flavor is okay, but is more of a sugar crash than a flavor you could get excited about and get your watermelon fix until summer.

Finally, the cookie. It's on point. This is what you should be eating this month. MMmMMmmm Cookies. Cookie of the Year!

No one needs a New Year Resolution. Fast Food is the way to go!

Though if you do want to try and stay healthy there is a Salad of the Month the guys didn't get around to reviewing. Probably because real men don't eat foo foo salads. Watch that dressing ladies!

One final note, the sign off "Thank you for watching us eat." Should be your signature. Keep it.

Eegee's Debuts Mac & Cheese . . . Whut?!

Eegee’s just announced that they are now serving Kraft Macaroni and Cheese on their menus!

...Um ok?

I think the general consensus from the comments left on eegee’s Facebook page is why?

It is unclear whether this is just on the kid’s menu, which would make more sense. Also, why is it Kraft? Is Eegee’s unable to be original anymore, have they gone corporate? Didn’t Kraft have a few recalls last year on their mac & cheese as well? I have so many questions, and this announcement just left us confused and kind of bored.

Who really cares about Kraft mac & cheese. It’s less than a dollar at the store for a box, so do you really want to pay for a small bowl at the store? We’re not sure of the price yet, but will post pricing when we go to the store. We envision that whoever came up with this idea thought it was the most amazing idea ever...and then it came out and no one really cares. If they wanted to make excitement over mac & cheese why didn’t they create their own recipe??? It’s not that hard to make, it’s noodles and cheese.

Why is the Eegee’s menu changing so much lately? Have sales been that bad that they have to constantly come up with gimmicks to attract customers? We straight up love our Eegee’s but does it have to constantly be changing? See our previous post about how much the brand has changed over the years here. While the branding has been inconsistent over the years (are we now supposed to be writing eegee’s, Eegee’s, Eegee, eegee, or eg’s, whoever handles their social media can’t even get it right), their food has always pretty much stayed the same. People love the drink and food items offered, so why mess with it? If it’s not broke don’t fix it, right? Unless it is broken and eegees is in some sort of financial trouble, please don’t let that be true!

While it seems the new flavor Watermelon Pineapple seems to be a hit, they maybe should have left it at that for their big reveal this month. There are several other places that serve worthwhile mac & cheese in Tucson, here are a few of my personal favorites as I am a mac & cheese connoisseur along with my eegee’s obsession.
  1. The Hub: The Hub serves amazingly creamy mac & cheese. You can also add additional toppings like BACON or chicken. It comes with a baked on crusty top that’s to die for!
  2. Trident Grill: You wouldn’t think a college bar would have such amazing mac & cheese but they do! I go back and forth between whether The Hub is better than Trident or not, but either way, I would eat either mac & cheese any day. It’s creamy and sooo cheesy.
  3. The Fix: Duh the entire place is devoted to mac & cheese
  4. Union: They put bacon in the mac & cheese so obviously it’s good!
  5. Maynards Market & Kitchen: They’ve got a decent mac that I’m happy to order whenever I’m there.
This is just a short list of mac & cheeses I’d rather eat than even trying eegee’s. Not that I hate Kraft mac & cheese, I have three boxes in my pantry right now, but why would I go to a food joint to eat Kraft? I really hope this was for the kids because I’m totally not getting this effort. I also hope that this isn’t a sign of eegee's going corporate. This isn’t like adding Frank’s Red Hot Sauce to your ranch, aka Buffalo Ranch, because that idea was pure genius. This just seems to be a lazy way to add another item to their menu. They used to have such an individualistic personality and lately they’ve been a little boring with their presentation. Don’t lose your quirky fun edge eegee’s, that’s what we loved about you!

As many fans have commented, if you don’t want the item then don’t get it. Well hey, if no one gets it then what was the point of putting it on the menu in the first place?

If you disagree with us and love the eegee’s mac & cheese, let us know! Feel free to comment below or send us your pics at our email address eegeeslove@gmail.com and we’ll post on our social media.

We will only judge you slightly for ordering Kraft mac & cheese...
